Sunday 22nd May 2005 saw a lot of activity around the church. About 15 volunteers from the village (and a couple of lads from the Bruderhof Community) helped to dig a drainage trench around the church. This work was suggested by our architect to help keep the wall dry from moisture drawn in from the surrounding soil. Doing it ourselves saved about £1,000 in labour costs. The work was greatly assisted by mechanical muscle provided by James "Chippy" Chipchase and his mini excavator. The volunteers were all treated to a "Diggers Lunch" at the Griffin's Head afterwards. |
