The Windmill is now closed to the public for the winter, and will next open in May 2012 for the summer season.
As usual the mill will be open every Sunday from May 2012 from 2.30 to 4.30pm until the end of August. Entrance costs £1 for adults and children are free. A guide will be on hand to take you up into the mill to show you around and to explain the fascinating history of one of the last mills of this type in the country. The Windmill is on high open ground with fine views to Knowlton Court to the east and Ramsgate to the north. It is also situated on a circular walk taking in Chillenden, Rowling and Goodnestone. Click here for details of this walk.
When the Windmill is closed you are however still welcome to visit the site and have a look around from the outside. There is an information and interpretation board in the grounds.
(note: car parking limited. No toilets. Disabled access to grounds and base of windmill only, but due to steep and narrow staircases access is not possible to the upper levels)
Chillenden Windmill was re-opened to the public on Sunday September 18th 2005 following a formal handover ceremony by KCC on Tuesday 13th September. The mill collapsed during violent storms in November 2003 and reconstruction works have been taking place ever since. Please visit the news pages to find out more stories on the rebuild.
